A third of Pennsylvanians surveyed said artificial intelligence poses a “significant threat” to humanity, while nearly half said AI development will have a negative impact on the economy.
In south-central Pennsylvania, the construction of data centers has lukewarm support with just 37% supporting them, 39% opposing them and 24% having no opinion.
The poll commissioned by RealClearPennsylvania and Emerson College found that 33% think AI is a “significant threat” to humanity, while 41% said it is a “moderate threat,” 20% said a “minor threat” and 10% said “no threat at all.”
