KENTUCKY —
More money is headed to eastern Kentucky to help communities recovering from devastating storms and flooding.
Gov. Andy Beshear announced Monday $612,000 for the recovery efforts.
The money comes from Kentucky's Safe Program, which helps communities when federal funds aren't yet available.
Whitesburg will receive the largest share, $450,000, to address financial strain from disaster impacts.
Perry and Knott counties and Wheelwright will also receive funds.
Since 2022, Gov. Beshear has awarded more than $143 million in disaster recovery funding to eastern Kentucky.
