Professional caregivers across the Valley were given grants on Monday from an area non-profit aimed at providing housing and support for individuals with autism.
Dylan's House, based in Youngstown, presented caregivers $500 grants as part of their Professional Caregiver Grant Program.
"Our mission is to support caregivers who work with autistic adults here in the Mahoning Valley, so to make their holidays a little bit better, we are rewarding 10 caregivers tonight with grants, " Kevin Shope, president and co-founder, said.
Including the $5,000 given at Monday's event, the organization has given a total of $28,000 in caregiver grants to caregivers in the Valley, Shope said.
Shope founded Dylan's House with his wife, Amy, and the mission is inspired by their son, Dylan, who was diagnosed
