LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Residents of Floyd County are being asked to give their thoughts on the sheriff’s department using body cameras with AI programs.

As of this writing, the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department does not have a body camera program. However, they are considering different systems and AI tools that would work with the cameras to help generate police reports.

A new survey is asking neighbors specifically about these AI capabilities for community reaction.

According to the News & Tribune, the sheriff’s department expects to start using body cameras by the first half of 2026.
