LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville police say they have recovered a body from the Ohio River, two days after a car was spotted driving off the Waterfront .
According to LMPD’s River Unit, the body was located just before 6 p.m. Monday.
Police said the body was of an adult but could not immediately determine their race or gender.
Crews conducted a water rescue operation on Saturday after a tugboat spotted the vehicle drive into the river near Joe’s Crab Shack.
LMPD used drones to search the area.
The vehicle was located but crews couldn’t safely remove it due to swift and dangerous currents.
Search operations resumed Monday. Police do not know if the car drove off the waterfront accidentally or intentionally.
LMPD expects to know more about the individual once a postmortem examination is
