LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Nearly a month after the Louisville UPS cargo plane crash that killed 14 people and injured 23, the shipping company says it's making adjustments to ensure the grounding and inspection of its 26 MD-11 planes doesn't disrupt holiday operations.
It comes as the Associated Press reports it'll take months longer than UPS expected for Boeing to inspect and possibly repair the decades-old fleet . That report is based on an internal memo the AP obtained, detailing information UPS Airlines President Bill Moore sent to employees.
“We’re looking at months, not weeks," WHAS11 aviation expert and pilot Reed Yadon said. “It's not going to be an easy fix, that's for sure. There's going to be a lot of disassembly checks and rechecks and new parts probably put on there.”
