Authorities identified a man who died after being fatally injured in Norwood on Saturday.

Anton C. Dowling, 25, of Boston, died after being fatally injured, according to the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office. Authorities initially said that police were investigating a deadly shooting, but a statement on Monday said Dowling’s injuries were not from a gunshot.

Emergency room doctors initially believed he died from a gunshot wound, but an autopsy by the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office determined he died from injuries from a sharp object.

No arrests have been announced as of Monday evening. The investigation remains active and ongoing, officials said.
