A temporary taqueria pop-up opened up in Mexico City on Monday to celebrate the arrival of British-Albanian singer Dua Lipa, who is ending her global "Radical Optimism Tour" in the Mexican capital.
Fans of the star couldn't get enough of the food on offer at the "La Dua" pop-up, which will be open to customers until December 5.
The menu fuses local food culture with global pop fandom and features three themed tacos: Taco Houdini, topped with fried pork rind; Taco Maria, made with arrachera skirt steak; and Taco Radical Optimism, filled with beef barbacoa and melted cheese.
A 249-peso combo, roughly $13.60, also includes soup and a drink of choice.
Organizers estimate capacity for about 800 diners between 1200-0000 local time a day, and expect most visitors will be fans of the singer who pop in before or after the three concerts she's giving.
The venue normally operates as Tacos Los Caramelos, and much of its regular staff worked the pop-up line to serve the concert crowds.
Giveaway items included branded napkins, a taquero paper cap, and a 2026 photo calendar featuring Dua Lipa, an homage to the traditional taqueria calendars commonly displayed in local shops.
Fans, who had to register in advance for a coveted spot, filled the taqueria and stretched into sidewalk lines Monday, filming the kitchen, opening taco boxes, and adding their favorite seasonings at the counter and in the seating areas.
Tacos are the nation's top dish - Mexico’s national statistical agency found that 70% of Mexicans name tacos as their favorite food.
Data also shows that over 90% of the population eats tacos at least once a week, underscoring their cultural reach.
Mexico City is home to more than 10,900 taquerias, reflecting high industry density in the capital.
