Livonia — With Livonia’s new Senior Wellness Center open, city officials are deciding the future of the community's old senior center building, and at least three officials — including the mayor — favor tearing it down.
The Livonia City Council has asked Mayor Maureen Miller Brosnan's office for a report and recommendations on demolishing the now-shuttered Civic Park Senior Center at 15218 Farmington Road, along with the vacant former courthouse. The courthouse has sat empty since the current 16th District Court building opened in 2010.
Speaking at a recent council meeting, Councilman Rob Donovic said a report would include how much demolitions would cost, funding, and recommendations about whether to move forward with demolishing the two facilities.
