GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - It was standing room only at Monday’s Gulfport School District meeting as community members and leaders flocked to hear the discussion over whether students at Gulfport High should be allowed to open a chapter of Club America, a product of Turning Point USA.

According to Turning Point, Club America is an opportunity for high school students to learn about American exceptionalism, the importance of constitutional rights, and standing for freedom.

“I’ve always had a very strong pull for talking about government and the market and Christian values,” said Gulfport High student Riley Pickich. “Ever since Charlie Kirk’s unfortunate passing, I decided that something needs to be said since his voice is no longer heard.”
