NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Leaders statewide memorialized the 14 victims killed and dozens others injured in the New Year’s Day terror attack on Bourbon Street with a light installation featuring instruments and umbrellas with more than 800 prayer flags.

The memorial, called “Second Line in the Sky,” serves as a symbol of remembrance and renewal for those forever changed by the tragedy.

The idea began with Arnaud’s Restaurant co-owner Katy Casbarian, who brought the concept to designers at Studio West.

“I haven’t spent a day without thinking about the families and the victims and just thought it was so important to do something to honor them, particularly during the holiday season which is obviously going to be a tough time leading up to the memorial,” Casbarian said.
