WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Dozens of people gathered at the District One Advisory Board meeting tonight to give their thoughts on the proposed Douglas reconstruction.
The meeting started at 6 p.m. on Monday and continued late into the night. People came to the meeting with multiple different reactions to the Douglas proposal, but the biggest concern people seemed to have was not the reduction of Douglas to three lanes. Most were concerned about the lack of safe bike lanes.
The city explained that they have two main ways of going about the Douglas design. They could change Douglas to have three lanes with diagonal parking on the sides, or change Douglas to have three lanes with parallel street parking and bike lanes.
