Large portions of Massachusetts are expected to be hit with heavy snow on Tuesday, with some areas in the north getting between 8 and 12 inches.
A significant coastal storm will bring heavy, wet snow to the interior part of the state, and a winter storm warning was issued for the Berkshires and northern Massachusetts, according to the National Weather Service.
Eastern and coastal areas will mostly see rain, though some light accumulation is possible Tuesday night as the storm leaves the region.
Forecasters predict that snow will start in higher elevation areas between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m.
Rain will spread to the coastal plain after 10 a.m. Precipitation will taper west to east from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.
