Across Rowan County, something powerful is happening every day, often quietly and often one person at a time. In library meeting rooms, school classrooms, breakrooms at local businesses and living rooms across the county, people are learning to read, write, communicate and connect more confidently than ever before.

Thanks to the support of United Way funding and the commitment of our community, the Rowan County Literacy Council is currently working with more than 115 adults and 67 youth. Seventy superhero volunteers have already contributed more than 2,000 hours of tutoring from January through mid-November.
