INDIANAPOLIS — One of the season’s first meaningful snowfalls made for a messy Monday evening commute across central Indiana, with drivers caught in slow traffic, slick pavement and travel times nearly double the usual ride home.
As snow began sticking to roads late Monday afternoon, the Indianapolis Department of Public Works shifted into full response mode by deploying plows, dropping salt and monitoring road conditions ahead of an expected sloppy Tuesday morning drive.
Kyle Bloyd, chief communications officer for Indy DPW, said crews have been working 12-hour rotating shifts since the weekend to stay ahead of the weather.
“We’re busy, we’re locked in, we’re ready to keep going,” Bloyd told 13News before Monday's snowfall. “We’ve been spending the day dropping salt on Priority 1 and 2
