RICHMOND — Livingstone’s men’s basketball team was blown out in its CIAA opener on Saturday.
Virginia Union scored 50 points in the second half and pounded the Blue Bears 79-49 at Barco-Stevens Hall.
A lot went wrong for LC (3-3, 0-1), as Virginia Union forced 26 turnovers and killed the Blue Bears 46-19 on the boards. Livingstone shot 3-for-14 on 3s and missed 10 of 22 free throws.
Omarion Bodrick scored 10 to lead the Blue Bears, who were only down eight at halftime.
Jemez Herd scored nine, but normally high-scoring James Nipper was held to five.
Bobby Gardner led VUU (5-1, 1-0) with 14 points. The Panthers are 3-0 at home.
Livingstone has a chance to bounce back on Tuesday night at Lees-McRae.
