A former Premier League and England footballer was reportedly arrested on suspicion of attempted rape at Stansted Airport, according to reports.
The ex-Premier League star was halted at a passport control point in the airport, where it is understood his details revealed he was sought by police over a non-recent allegation of attempted rape made by an ex-partner.
Border Force officers intervened before he could board his flight on Sunday evening, according to The Sun.
Essex Police were notified and travelled to Stansted Airport to apprehend the suspect. He was transported to a local police station where his fingerprints, DNA sample and mugshot were taken.
