MEDINA, Ohio -- While they are still waiting to make sure all the cities in Medina County are on board with contributions, City Council has approved an ordinance authorizing a $50,000 expenditure to support operations in 2026 at Medina Metropolitan Housing Authority’s Next Step Up emergency shelter.
Council members first discussed the proposed expenditure at a Finance Committee meeting back in August.
At that time, council decided that the city’s contribution would be contingent on Wadsworth, Brunswick and the county making contributions as well.
“Brunswick has already complied and has committed to $50,000 plus $1, and I believe the county is contributing $100,000,” Mayor Dennis Hanwell said.
“The matter is still pending in Wadsworth.”
