Santander has promised customers it can withstand a "severe shock" as it passed the latest Bank of England stress test. Santander, which had its future in the UK thrown into doubt earlier this year, has shared a major update with customers.
The high street bank, which has branches in Birmingham , says it has passed the 2025 Bank Capital Stress Test, conducted by the Bank of England on seven of the UK’s largest banks and building societies.
The bank passed the stress test on both risk-based capital and leverage-based capital - and says it has "significantly exceeded" the minimum requirements for Common Equity Tier 1 and Leverage ratios in each of the five years of the test's existence.
