HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Local small business owners are working to capitalize on Cyber Monday.
Staff at local clothing store Aloha Revolution worked well into the night, packing hundreds of online orders.
The rush was welcome after a 10% dip in sales during the 43-day federal government shutdown.
“People are kind of pinching pennies lately, we’ve felt it recently,” owner Edward Sugimoto said.
Online sales provide steady revenue
The clothing store estimates that sales from Cyber Monday account for about 20% of its yearly revenue.
“We look forward to this time of year,” said Sugimoto.
Employees do not mind the long hours on the national shopping holiday, Sugimoto explained, because the workday is still less stressful than managing the brick-and-mortar store in Kaimuki.
