Dhurandhar controversy explained : The upcoming Bollywood movie Dhurandhar , starring Ranveer Singh, ran into legal trouble after the family of a highly decorated Army officer claimed it is based on his life without due acknowledgement.
Major Mohit Sharma laid down his life battling militants in J&K in 2009. He was posthumously awarded the Ashok Chakra, India’s highest peacetime gallantry award.
His parents approached the Delhi High Court against Dhurandhar , scheduled for release on December 5, seeking protection of their son’s legacy and persona. They also wanted the film privately screened for the family before its release.
