The third and final supermoon of 2025 − aptly named the Cold Moon − will light up the night sky this week.
Several meteor showers, including the plentiful meteor-producing Geminids, and the winter solstice take place during the month of December as well.

When will we see the Cold Moon?
The full Cold Moon will make its appearance on Thursday, Dec. 4 , and will reach peak illumination at 6:14 p.m. ET, according to the Old Farmer's Almanac .
What is a supermoon?
A supermoon happens when the moon's orbit is closest to the Earth at the same time the moon is full. According to NASA , the full moon appears brighter and larger than a regular full moon, hence the term supermoon.
