The New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department paid $18.5 million in claims this year to over 6,000 New Mexicans - and more funds and property await claiming.
The department said there is $390 million up for grabs for New Mexicans - often abandoned after a death, a family move or forgotten.
“The Taxation and Revenue Department wants to reunite owners with their lost property,” said Taxation and Revenue Department Secretary Stephanie Schardin Clarke. “The holiday season can be financially stressful, and there’s no better time to check for unclaimed property to help alleviate some of that stress.”
