Parts of the UK are preparing for a 21-hour snowstorm, with advanced weather forecasts indicating that the first flurries will descend upon Scotland in the early hours of 15 December. The snowfall is then predicted to gradually shift southwards, impacting Northern Ireland, Wales and parts of northern England.
By 9am, the most severe snowfall , as depicted by GFS model maps, will be experienced in southern Scotland's Galloway Forest Park, along with the Lake District and the Pennines in northern England. A lighter dusting of snow is also expected in Northern Ireland around this time.
