Giants edge rusher Abdul Carter — this year’s third overall draft pick — found himself on the sideline to start Monday night’s game in New England.
For the second time in three games under interim head coach Mike Kafka, Carter was reportedly benched for tardiness issues .
After the Giants finished getting spanked 33-15 by the Patriots , Carter addressed reporters about his latest benching — and about the idea that he maybe isn’t getting the message here.
Carter — who the Giants need to be a foundational player — bristled when asked why he was benched for the Patriots’ first two drives, before finally getting on the field to open the second quarter.
“S--- happens,” he said. “I ain’t going to get into details. But like I said, s--- happens.”
