BETHSAIDA, Northern Israel – A wildfire on the Sea of Galilee has revealed new archaeological evidence about the birthplace of Jesus' disciples, Peter, Andrew, and Philip.
The place where Jesus fed the 5,000 and healed the blind man is yielding new secrets. Just as archaeologists prepared to dig again for answers, disaster struck.
One member of the scientific team, Dr. Steven Notley, dean of the School of Religious Studies at New Jersey's Pillar College, recalled for CBN News what happened this past July.
"We looked across the lake and saw there was a fire here," he said. "So, my wife and I got in the car and drove around here and saw the eucalyptus trees here at El-Araj going up in flames, and, oh, my goodness, you know – this is going to upend all of our excavation."
