HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) - More than 20 people were forced from their homes early Tuesday after a fire tore through a three-story building, according to the Hartford Fire Department.
Crews were called to 163–165 Albany Ave. around 12:26 a.m. for reports of a structure fire.
Firefighters arrived to find heavy flames coming from the attic area of the mixed-use building, prompting officials to declare a working fire.
Firefighters completed primary and secondary searches and confirmed that no residents or firefighters were injured.
The blaze displaced 22 people, including 14 adults and 8 children across four families.
The American Red Cross responded to assist those affected.
The Hartford Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
