The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) is reminding people that the risk of catching norovirus remains, even if you have had it before. Norovirus, commonly known as the winter vomiting bug, is a stomach bug that causes vomiting and diarrhoea.

The bug spreads easily through communities and outbreaks are common in settings where individuals have close contact such as hospitals, care homes, schools and nurseries. The virus infects the stomach and intestines, and is also known as a gastrointestinal virus.
