Plans to turn a former County Durham dentist's into holiday cottages have been approved.

Located at Market Place, Bishop Auckland, the former dental practice will be transformed into four holiday cottages.

This will involve creating one three-bedroom, two two-bedroom, and one one-bedroom apartment in the Grade II listed property.

Approval, granted by Durham County Council on November 27, followed a planning application from Chris Connor with Ryder Architects the agent.

Renovations will include replacing windows at the back, adding roof lights to the back part of the building, and changing the rainwater systems at the front.

Only minor changes will be made internally, ensuring the building's historical aspects are not lost.
