You've probably seen field goals go wrong in a multitude of different ways on the football field. Still, you may never have seen it happen, as with Younghoe Koo's botched attempt for the Giants on Monday Night Football this week.
The Giants were squaring off against the Patriots on Monday in a primetime match-up in front of a national audience when Koo lined up for what seemed like a run-of-the-mill field goal attempt. And it seemed everything was going perfectly until Koo...completely missed the ball. No, seriously. When swinging his leg through for the kick, Koo's toe struck the turf a second too early, and he failed to make any contact with the ball.
What you don't see on the video above is the rest of the play, but as you can imagine, it doesn't end well for the Giants. The ball was picked up by the holder, who scrambled looking for an option to save the play before eventually being sacked and turning the ball over on downs to the Patriots.
It didn't take long for fans and football personalities across the internet to react to the play, and no one was looking to take it easy on Koo after the botched play, with even the official NFL account on X, formerly Twitter, getting in on the fun. Check out some of the reactions to one of the most unique NFL botches this side of the butt fumble below.
