CLEVELAND, Ohio — Cuyahoga County cut ties with CHN Housing Partners as administrator of its senior tax-relief program, a move Treasurer Brad Cromes recently said will help speed up applications and expand access after a disappointing first year. But CHN says any shortcomings stem from how the county designed the program, not how the nonprofit ran it.
During a recent presentation to County Council members, Cromes framed the change as an effort to improve the Taxpayer Assistance Program to allow more seniors faster relief, with the goal of keeping them in their homes longer. Participants can receive up to $10,000 in one-time assistance to resolve delinquent property taxes and avoid foreclosure.
