A woman has been formally charged in the shooting death of her relative after an investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Alicia Brown, 27, of Birmingham, is charged with murder.

Ja’Oree Marquel Brown-Allen, 29, was shot and killed Sunday morning in Fairfield.

Investigators said a verbal altercation between the victim and a relative led to the shooting.

Brown is being held at the Jefferson County Jail without bond.
