Staged at Kensington’s Royal Albert Hall, The Fashion Awards serve as a yearly toast to the milestones and achievements of the global fashion industry. Last night was no exception – among the international recipients was South Sudanese-American supermodel Anok Yai – who took home the Model of the Year award in Dilara Findikoğlu , this year’s Vanguard category winner – while Dior CEO and LVMH Prize founder Delphine Arnaut and Italian patriarch of quiet luxury, Brunello Cucinelli, were honoured with special recognition awards in touching speeches by Anna Wintour and Sharon Stone, respectively.

The nature of its location, however, means that the affair is inevitably a major moment for British design talent – in particular, the many independent labels that give the country’s fashion scene
