Despite harsh weather conditions Monday night, more than 90 people filled the West Lafayette City Council chambers— with some standing the entire time—for a meeting that quickly turned heated as discussions centered on a proposed development near Purdue University.
Much of the crowd appeared to be students, who listened as the council worked through routine reappointments and reviewed the city’s proposed 2025 budget. But the main draw of the night was Ordinance No. 46-2025, listed under unfinished business. The ordinance concerns a major development planned for 134 State Street, a property located directly adjacent to Purdue’s campus.
