The 2025-2026 high school wrestling season is officially underway, and Section 9 continues to stand tall as one of the state’s premier wrestling powerhouses.

In recent years, Section 9 has dominated the mats, particularly on the boys’ side. The Section 9 Division I (large school) team has captured the state team championship every year since the 2021–2022 season. Over that stretch, Section 9 wrestlers have earned 16 individual state titles, while Minisink Valley has claimed the overall team crown in Albany three times.

Last season also marked a milestone — the inaugural year of girls’ wrestling as an official New York State Public High School Athletic Association championship sport — and Section 9 made an immediate impact. Two Section
