New polling from the Angus Reid Institute shows Prime Minister Mark Carney’s approval rating holding steady in British Columbia after his government announced a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to explore a potential pipeline route from Alberta to northwest B.C.

Despite the departure of a cabinet minister who opposed the plan, Carney’s approval remains at 52% nationally, a level unchanged in B.C., where discussions and likely protests over the proposal are expected. In Alberta, approval for the prime minister has risen three points to 45%, according to the survey released Monday.
