The mother of Sarah Everard says she is still in a “rage against” her daughter’s rape and murder by a serving Metropolitan Police officer .

Sue Everard added she is still tormented by her 33-year-old daughter’s final hours as findings of a damning inquiry into sex crimes against women and girls in public places was published on Tuesday.

There is a “critical failure” to answer basic questions about sexual violence including how many women are raped by strangers each year, the report found.

The Angiolini Inquiry concluded too many perpetrators are slipping through the cracks and that prevention schemes are often “just words”.
