President Donald Trump is set to make an announcement from the White House on Dec. 2 after holding a Cabinet meeting earlier in the day.

The announcement is expected to begin at 2 p.m. ET on Tuesday, according to the president's schedule.

Earlier on Tuesday, Trump opened his ninth Cabinet meeting by blasting Democrats for complaining about inflation and decrying the lack of news coverage of his accomplishments. At the meeting, Trump also reiterated his desire to receive the Nobel Peace Prize for his work on resolving conflicts.

The president also told Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth that he did a "good job" after delivering the first Cabinet meeting report. Hegseth has in recent days faced scrutiny over a Sept. 2 strike on a suspected Venezuelan drug boat in the Caribbean.

A Nov. 28 report in the Washington Post about the strike said the U.S. military carried out a second, lethal strike that killed two survivors as they clung to the wreckage. Hegseth said the report was "fabricated," but the White House acknowledged on Dec. 1 that a second strike had occurred.
