The city of Ridgefield has implemented a series of changes to its commercial development code to create greater flexibility and lower costs for small businesses.

The Ridgefield City Council approved an ordinance authorizing the changes at its Nov. 6 meeting.

“I think that there’s going to be new businesses in Ridgefield that directly benefit from what the council passed,” said Claire Lust, the city’s community development director.

The updates reflect input from small-business owners, commercial developers and residents, Lust said.

“On a practical level, they’re going to get businesses open more efficiently,” Lust said.
