M6 drivers face a 30mph speed limit for YEARS, it is feared, as the major stretch of motorway - which runs through Birmingham and the West Midlands - set for a change.
National Highways plans to close junction 38 of the M6 near Tebay for up to three years for repair works. It will restrict southbound traffic for 18 months before switching to northbound restrictions for an additional 18 months.
A petition supporting the "Keep Junction 38 Open" campaign has gathered over 1,700 signatures. The Liberal Democrats ' Tim Farron has warned: "National Highways is planning to close and replace seven bridges that carry the M6 motorway over the Lune gorge in Cumbria.
