BEDFORD — A total of 393 third-grade students across several local schools have received new dictionaries this year, courtesy of the Bedford Lions Club.
This marks the 20th consecutive year the club has participated in the annual Dictionary Project, bringing the cumulative total of dictionaries presented to local students to 8,055.
The students who received the dictionaries attend five Bedford North Lawrence Elementary Schools, St. Vincent de Paul School, Lawrence County Independent Schools, Springville Community Academy, Stone City Christian Academy, and JC’s Christian Academy.
Lion Heather Wessel, chairman of the local program, explained the goal of the enduring community project. The Lions Club hopes that the dictionaries will serve as each pupil’s personal reference book.
