Emergency repair work to be carried out on major road in Greater Manchester

Bury Council has warned of delays for drivers as emergency repair work is carried out on a major road through Prestwich. The repair work will take place on Bury New Road, close to the junction with Fairfax Road.

It will start at 7pm tonight (Tuesday), with temporary multi-way lights being put in place.The temporary lights are set to stay in place until at least Thursday morning as the repairs are carried out to a water main leak.

Part of Fairfax Road is also closed as part of a regeneration scheme in the area. Council bosses have warned the works on the major road will lead to slow traffic in the area.
