GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The Grand Island Fire Department distributed winter coats to students at Dodge Elementary School Monday morning through Operation Warmth.
The Grand Island Fire Department has helped kids in need through Operation Warmth since 1998. Members visited Dodge Elementary School to provide coats, hats, gloves and scarves to help students prepare for winter conditions. The firefighters also helped the kids try on the coats.
“This is the first time that we’ve been able to coordinate and actually host it here at Dodge, so we’re very excited about that,” said Michelle Walker, social worker for Grand Island Public Schools. “In years past and actually moving forward is we’ll keep the boxes of coats and essentials and K-5th grade and maybe even 6th graders will be able to ge
