SHREVEPORT, La. — Caddo Parish may soon launch a national advertising campaign to attract new residents — including remote workers — after a committee recommended spending up to $40,000 on digital marketing aimed at boosting local population and tax base.

The proposal, introduced at Monday’s Caddo Commission work session, would leverage social media and potentially a nationally syndicated program.

Commissioner John-Paul Young explained the idea: “We should target people with remote job … to reverse our population decline with young people and young families.”

Commission President Stormy Gage-Watts revealed she had been approached by producers of the nationally syndicated show “In This Town,” hosted by actor Dennis Quaid.
