The New York Giants fell to 2-11 on Monday night after a 33-15 loss to the New England Patriots, in rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart’s return following a two-game absence due to a concussion.
However, much of the attention surrounding the Giants centered on fellow first-round rookie Abdul Carter, whom the team selected with the No. 3 overall pick. For the second consecutive game, Carter was benched to start due to tardiness.
Carter sat out the entire first quarter on Monday night, during which the Patriots erupted for 17 unanswered points before he eventually returned to the field.
Following the game, Carter addressed his benching but faced backlash for remarks that many felt lacked sincerity from a player expected to be the cornerstone of the defense.
