One such eatery, a much loved chippy in the east end , has a huge fan in one of our readers, who messaged us about the fact that the staff went above and beyond on a recent visit.

Speaking about the Italo Chip Shop on Dalmarnock Road, our reader Marc was delighted to be offered a creative new ‘secret menu’ item.

He said: "It's such a great chippy, they don't go in for the awards or anything, but cook everything fresh and are always so lovely. I went in last night and the staff coyly asked if I wanted to try their 'secret menu'."
