ALLEGAN COUNTY, MI — A small, but steadily-growing rural city 5 miles east of Lake Michigan is adding “missing middle” housing stock to its downtown.

The city of Fennville and Fennville Downtown Development Authority announced partnerships with Jubilee Ministries and Allen Edwin Homes this past week that will lead to the construction of 14 townhomes in the city’s downtown.

Jubilee Ministries is acquiring 0.4 acres of DDA-owned property fronting West Fennville Street. The Holland-based nonprofit will construct six two-bedroom and two three-bedroom units there, city officials announced.

The north half of the parcel was not acquired by Jubilee and will continue to be maintained by the DDA. It could be potentially developed in the future, but is not a priority at this time, said Micah Machi
