New York Giants interim head coach Mike Kafka benched linebacker Abdul Carter for the first quarter of his team’s 33-15 loss to the New England Patriots on Monday, December 1, after the first-round pick was late for a team activity.
When asked why he was disciplined for the second time in three weeks, Carter, 22, told the media, “S*** happens. I’m not going to get into details. S*** happens.”
Carter’s benching comes two weeks after Kafka, 38, sat him for the opening drive of the Giants’ 27-20 home loss to the Green Bay Packers after he missed a pregame walkthrough.
“I made a mistake during the week that was detrimental to the team,” Carter said at the time, per ESPN. “That was the consequence of it. Got to live with it.”
