BURTON, S.C. (WCSC) — A man is facing charges in Beaufort County for his alleged stabbing of a teen girl with a box cutter.

Angel Avila-Castro, 18, of Burton, is charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office says Avila-Castro is facing these charges because of a Monday incident in which, just before 1 p.m. deputies responded to Noye Wiggins Drive for reports of a stabbing.

At the scene, deputies found a 16-year-old girl who had been stabbed several times.

Avila-Castro and multiple witnesses had reportedly remained on the scene.
