COLUMBUS, Ohio — The newest baby elephant at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium now has a name.
The zoo announced on Tuesday that the baby’s name is Oliver, or Ollie for short.
Born on Oct. 21, 2025, he’s the second elephant calf to arrive this year, marking a historic milestone for the zoo. Oliver joins little Rita Jean Wolfe , named in honor of a beloved member of the Wolfe family who passed away last year.
Last month, zoo officials put out a call for name suggestions. Voters chose between Frederick, Oliver (Ollie), Ozzy and Theodore (Theo).
The zoo says that out of the more than 20,000 votes, Oliver received almost 40% of them.
